This homemade beef and onion mushroom stir fry is the kind of quick dinner that tastes like your favorite takeout order, but made fresh at home. The beef is thinly sliced, seasoned, marinated, seared, then tossed with onions, mushrooms, scallions, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a splash of white wine for deep savory flavor.

Serve it hot over white rice, fried rice, lo mein noodles, chow mein noodles, or your favorite stir fry noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 London broil top round steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp BeSureToCook Seasoning Blend
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp sesame oil
  • 4 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped garlic
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Splash of white wine
  • Extra oyster sauce
  • Extra dark soy sauce
  • Splash of water
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil for vegetables
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Mushrooms, sliced
  • Scallions or green onions
  • Splash of light soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the London broil steak against the grain.
  2. Place beef in a bowl and add BeSureToCook Seasoning Blend, baking soda, salt, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and garlic.
  3. Mix well until the beef is coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat a hot pan or wok with vegetable oil.
  5. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned.
  6. Add a splash of white wine, extra oyster sauce, extra dark soy sauce, and a little water while cooking.
  7. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  8. Add vegetable oil to the pan, then cook onions, mushrooms, garlic, and scallions until softened and slightly toasted.
  9. Add a splash of light soy sauce and a small touch of BeSureToCook Seasoning Blend.
  10. Add the beef back into the pan and toss everything together until coated in the sauce.
